Late Summer Qi Gong Workshop
Saturday 4th September 2010, 1.00pm - 5.00pm : £35.00
Develop your understanding and practice of the ancient Chinese art of Qi Gong. In this season's workshop we will focus on the traditional Chinese medicine Late Summer element of 'Earth'. This element is associated with ‘nurturing’ and ‘abundance’, the emotions of ‘empathy’, ‘thoughtfulness’ and ‘worry’, and is related to the spleen and stomach organs.
We will explore how the Earth season affects our health and wellbeing and how we can take extra care to keep balanced, nourish ourselves and ripen our life force or ‘Qi’ during this time of seasonal transition.
As part of our focus on self-nurturing, this workshop introduces a series of gentle Qi Gong exercises specifically designed to stretch and articulate the body’s joints and help prevent and manage common joint and muscular aches and pains. These exercises will clear blockages or stagnations of ‘Qi’ in the joints and will open up the tendons and ligaments allowing our ‘Qi’ to flow smoothly. If the weather is good this section of the workshop will held outdoors in our beautiful Derbyshire countryside surroundings.
This workshop is led by David James Lees, an experienced traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, Taoist Master and Qi Gong instructor, who will provide one-to-one guided teaching and supervision for all participants. You will also receive a detailed ‘Workshop Workbook’ to keep as a record of your afternoon.
Absolute beginners and more advanced students are welcome!
