Spring Qi Gong Workshop

Develop your understanding and practice of the ancient art of Qi Gong. In this season's workshop we will focus on the traditional Chinese medicine Spring element of 'Wood'. Spring and the Wood element signals a time to simply ‘let go’ and allow for new growth. Through our Qi Gong practice we will explore how the organs related to 'Wood' - the liver and gallbladder, and its associated emotions of ‘frustration’ and ‘anger’, affect our health and wellbeing. We will discuss how we can all learn to ‘let go’ of these emotions and embrace renewal and change in our lives. This workshop also provides an introduction to the traditional Taoist 'Microcosmic Orbit' meditation. This technique is designed to purify the body physically, mentally and spiritually and improve health and longevity. The Microcosmic Orbit dates back to prehistoric times in China and is still performed by millions worldwide. Participants will discover the historical background and benefits of the Microcosmic Orbit exercise and understand how the technique harnesses the flow of Qi within the body. You will learn correct body positions and abdominal breathing exercises, as well as different meditation techniques essential to the practice. The workshop is led by David James Lees, a traditional Chinese medicine Practitioner, Taoist Master and Qi Gong instructor who will provide guided supervision for all participants. There are 8 places on this workshop and beginners and improvers are welcome.
