What is Facial Toning Acupuncture?

As part of his specialist professional training, David Lees is able to offer ‘Facial Toning Acupuncture’, also known as ‘Cosmetic Acupuncture’ - a non-surgical method used to increase the vibrancy of facial skin by toning the facial muscles and smoothing the skin texture. The treatment is based on the principles of Chinese medicine and involves the insertion of special, very fine needles into particular areas of the face, ears and neck along channels or meridians of energy called ‘Qi’. Specific points are chosen according to each individual’s needs - a person with excess facial puffiness, for example, would require a different treatment than someone with very dry skin.

What results can I expect?

Patients treated will commonly report that their skin appears more toned and radiant with a healthy glow. Fine lines, wrinkles, bags under the eyes and facial puffiness can all become reduced in their appearance; jowls and neck can be firmed; and droopy eyelids lifted.

Does it really make a difference?

Although many patients report visible improvements after the first few treatments, the effects become most noticeable and lasting on or about the sixth or seventh session. Each person responds differently, depending on his or her facial condition and lifestyle prior to treatment, and current lifestyle and diet.

What is the course of treatment?

You can arrange an initial 90 minute Facial Toning Acupuncture consultation with David who will take your medical history and talk you through the process and your expectations, and answer any questions you may have. You will receive a Facial Toning Acupuncture treatment as part of this initial session and you are then free to go away and consider whether you would like to book a course of Facial Toning Acupuncture treatments.

This initial 90 minute Facial Toning Acupuncture consultation costs £45.00.

Normally a course of 8 - 12 further treatments is recommended, with 2 treatments per week for the first 3 weeks and then 1 treatment per week for a further 2 - 6 weeks after that.

Each Facial Toning Acupuncture session costs £35.00 and lasts 1 hour, which also includes time for a soothing meditation to help you relax and de-stress.

Following this initial course of treatment, occasional maintenance sessions can prolong the results for between 5 to 10 years. David will also recommend that you supplement your Facial Toning Acupuncture programme with facial massage and acupressure or facial exercises, which you can do at home yourself.

Why choose Facial Toning Acupuncture over a surgical face-lift?

Facial Toning Acupuncture should NOT be thought of as a replacement for cosmetic surgery – it is a natural and gentler alternative to consider for brightening and toning the face and neck. It is far less invasive and costly than cosmetic surgery and is safe, virtually painless, and has no side effects or any risk of disfigurement.

Are there any contraindications?

David will always take your medical history before performing a Facial Toning Acupuncture treatment. Facial Toning Acupuncture is contraindicated for some pituitary disorders, heart disorders, diabetes, as well as for individuals who have a pacemaker or who have a problem with excessive bleeding or bruising. Facial Toning Acupuncture should not be done during pregnancy, during a heavy cold or flu, during an allergic attack or during an acute herpes outbreak.
