Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbs are specifically used to create decoctions or "teas" that are a powerful part of healing disease or “patterns of disharmony” within an individual.

There are several hundred different herbs, mostly of plant origin (roots, seeds, flowers, twigs, and barks); a bespoke combination will be combined into a formula, which can contain anything between 3 and 18 ingredients, in order to treat a specific health compliant. Although there are some animal based products used in Chinese herbal medicine we only use plant based herbs at Peak House Practice.

It is the "herbal synergy", or how the herbs act together as a unified whole, and their unique effect on the individual patient that is the strength behind Chinese herbs and why they are so successful. Herbal decoctions can be given in the form of granules, tinctures, concentrated powders or as an external patch, compress or bath.
